Hey, why the hell not? STORY TIME!
~~~
Long, long ago, in a land far, far away- you know what? Fuck that. I'll give you the short version.
Several hundred thousand years ago, at the Dawn of the World, the Eight Gods got together, and created life. Fast forward several thousand years, and Man has come about, as well as the various creatures that stalk the night. Tiresias, the blind prophet, predicted that the time would come, when man and beast would have a showdown, and the outcome was the one thing he was unable to see, but he did see eight warriors, wielding weapons of incredible power, leading the humans.
Several hundred years after that, in the Middle Ages, The Eight Gods decided to bestow some of their power upon mankind, so that they may survive the not-very-soon-to-come battle. So they created eight weapons of great power, each weapon representing one of eight types of magic. Wielding one of the weapons would give you incredible power in that style of magic, and bestow other gifts, near-immortality and great power being a few. These are those weapons, scattered across the globe. Legend has it, that if all eight weapons were to be combined, they would form a sword so powerful, it could either rid the world of all evil, or rend the world asunder.
On the path to each weapon lies The Trials of the Master, a series of tests meant to select the Weapon's true wielder from the whole race. The point of the trials is that only the one person destined to wield the weapon can pass the final test.
THE WEAPONS
The Eye of the Volcano- The Sword of Fire, forged by Hephaestus, god of fire and the blacksmith's forge, the Eye of the Volcano is a longsword, with a black handle and blade, and red cracks on both. On the pommel is a flawless ruby, the eye the sword is named for. This ruby is said to contain the power of the bowels of the earth, and if unleashed, could destroy the world as we know it. The Eye of the Volcano is said to wait in depths of the earth, waiting for it's rightful owner.
The Heart of the Ocean- The Sword of Water, forged by Ahti, son of the oceans, The Heart of the Ocean is a broadsword, with a blue handle, white blade and silver hand guard. Embedded in the hand guard is a sapphire, for which the blade is named. The sapphire is said to contain the wrath of the oceans, and if unleashed, could wash away all life on the planet. The Heart of the Ocean is said to lie in wait at the bottom of the deepest ocean, waiting for it's rightful owner.
The Light of the Storm- The Sword of Storms, forged by Susanoo, god of the powerful summer storm, The Light of the Storm is a katana with a light blue blade and black handle. Set in the pommel is a topaz, said to contain the fury of a thousand storms, which if unleashed, could reduce the world to ash. The Light of the Storm is said to lie in wait at the top of the highest mountain, awaiting it's true owner.
Set in the middle of the axe heads is a flawless emerald, said to contain the rage of the abused earth, and could rip the world to pieces if unleashed. The Strength of the World waits in the center of the densest forest, awaiting it's rightful owner.
The Weight of the Trials- The Hammer of Gravity, forged by Deinus, a powerful spirit of gravity, The Weight of the Trial is a large warhammer, double headed, and gunmetal grey in color. Set in the head of the hammer is a flawless amethyst, said to contain the weight of responsibility, and if unleashed, could crush the world into dust. The Edge of the Gale- The Scythe of Wind, forged by Njörd, the god of wind, The Edge of the Gale is a long scythe, about as long as it's user is tall, with a great scythe blade. Embedded at the base of the blade is a flawless aquamarine, said to contain the strength of a thousand hurricanes, and if unleashed, the world would fall to shreds. The Edge of the Gale lies in the clouds themselves, waiting for it's true master.
The Bringer of the Dawn- The Staff of Light, forged by Horus, god of light, The Bringer of the Dawn is a staff, shod in invincible gold, that shines like the sun itself. Embedded in the end of the staff is a flawless corundum, which contains the healing light of dawn, and can heal all wounds and cure all diseases. The Bringer of the Dawn is said to lie in the House of Light at the end of the world, awaiting it's true owner.
The Master of the Night- The Staff of Darkness, forged by Tiamat, goddess of darkness, The Master of the Night is a staff, crafted of ebony and bone. At the end of the staff is embedded a flawless onyx, said to contain the anger of the night, capable of snuffing out the sun's flame if unleashed. The Master of the Night is said to lie in The House of Darkness, on the opposite end of the world as the House of Light, awaiting it't true owner.
If the eight weapons are joined, they will form either Herald, The Blade of White, said to be able to purge all evil and shadow from this world. But if but one wielder of any weapons has impure intentions, then they will form Revolution, The Blade of Black, said to unmake all creation simply by appearing in this plane of existence.
